Responsibilities

Responsible for knowledge expertise in clinical coding and documentation for VCCs Quality Improvement Program. The role will include areas of coding and documentation compliance, process improvement, interventions, medical record review, and educator to the clinicians on core quality measures. Works cross-functionally with other departments and quality teams to ensure appropriate coding and documentation is captured on claims and medical record documentation. Conducts special audits on medical charts that impact compliance initiatives are met. Develops training materials on core quality measures, as needed.

  • Support VCCs Quality Teams to facilitate and promote effective and efficient achievement of company goals using lean tools and tracks progress toward achievement of plans
  • Lead multi-disciplinary tams to problem solve and strategize using lean methods
  • Analyze reports and interpret data to develop and implement interventions
  • Confidently presents data or project deliverable to the Executive Team
  • Create workflow processes in order to insure standardized work throughout the organization
  • Prioritize projects and work efficiently
  • Demonstrate success in leading and sustaining improvements
  • Work closely with other team members to collaborate on completion goals
  • Train other team members to advance the Lean culture in an evolving organization

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in related area, and/or equivalent combination of experience/training
  • Coding Certification (AAPC/AHIMA)
  • A minimum of three (3+) or more years of relevant experience
  • Implementation of Coding Compliance Program
  • Knowledge of Revenue Cycle process
  • Valid California drivers license and vehicle insurance; reliable transportation, to travel for meetings and/or to gather information for reporting purposes

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters degree in healthcare informatics
  • Experience in clinical processes
  • Experience with NextGen, SPSS, SQL and reporting services
  • Web design experience
Required Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
  • Knowledgeable in coding (ICD/CPT/HCPC) guidelines and conventions
  • Knowledgeable with CMS 1995 & 1997 documentation guidelines
  • Knowledgeable of NCQA quality standards
  • Proven ability to conduct medical record audits and ensure codes (ICD, CPT, HCPC) are accurate reported
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, critical thinking, and organizational skills
  • Must have written, oral, presentation, facilitation, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of staff
  • Working knowledge of facility medical protocols, policies, procedures, regulatory standards and guidelines
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Ability and willingness to meet the organizations attendance and dress code polic
  • Ability to handle confidential materials and information in a professional manne
  • Excellent customer service skills and commitment to providing the highest level of customer satisfaction
  • Experience/familiarity with computers, Microsoft Office products (Word/Excel), business e-mail, communication systems and internet search capabilities
  • Familiar with operation of telephone, fax and copier equipment
